You can dry water based paints with a hairdryer.....!! 25c for about 8 mins will do the trick. But your still going to need a 2k laquer.

Not going to work for a complete respray, but will work for thse small repairs.

As for the future of aerosols... I have no idea. I was under the impression that a quantity of cellulose paint wil still be available as the use of it is low by comparison to 2k.

you will be able to get it here for a good while yet

This is what I hate about this frecking EU bull:

- We have been restricted on fishing quotas as we overfished nearby seas a liitle too much last year...France did a similar over fishing level, and got a away with it.

- Britain doesnt stand up for itself, but doesnt have a referdum giving government at the same time... I could spend all night listing other countries that stand up for themselves when it comes to governments being silly.

- Britain bows down to every EU rule laid down...we are even BANNING the selling, and marketing of any imperial mesurments in 2010!! No more inch or fraction spanners! Pounds ounces pints and yards all gone.

GRRRRRR :withstupid:  :( :(

I'm not even getting into it. It's too depressing. I don't know what they are on about on that minifinity thread about not being able to buy 2K anymore, we're still getting it from Lechler easily. No word of the ban yet as far as I can tell.

Saying that, I don't think anyone knows exactly when it's going to be banned. But when it does, if a garage is caught using it you get a fine, and the company who sold it you gets a fine as well. And its a stupidly big fine as well! Bar stewards.

pete.

I was under the impression that celly/2k wasnt ever going to be banned completely as classic car restorers can use it as much as they want too ?

So all I have to do is register a limited company then I can buy as much as I want

I keep hearing people saying you can't respray a whole car in water based because you need a booth to dry the paint properly. Why not do the car in sections, as if you were repairing just a single panel? It might take longer but it would be possible... :)

Yes it is totally possible, but with some metallics and pearls you will see a difference due to ambient temprature, moisture levels etc etc..

Given the minis body joins it is entirely possible.

You could hire blow heaters and pipe the heat into the garage (keeping the heaters out doors) anything is possible just a little imagination and a lot of safety.

I'm sure that the paint manufacturers will come up with an alternative
when they realise how lucrative the DIY market really is there must be
a race on between them all (or at least thats what i want to beleive anyway)

What sort of high build primer can you use under water base? I mean for home spraying?

Anything really. 2K is always best. I'm not aware of anything water-base reacts on top of.
