I have been given by my cousin (thanks Digga180) an LCB, the two into one and a Peco large bore exhaust (think its a 2 or 2 1/2 Inch) I am thinking of fitting the system with a staright through link pipe (£12).

Will this increase performance slightly?

Secondly what will it sound like... I'm hoping that it will sound loud!

Is it a straighforward bold off the old system and fit the new system on?

Thanks

If it's the 998 you have listed in your blurb, this will reduce performance massively. In fact a 2" or larger exhaust will hurt performance on pretty much any A series. Yes it will be loud.

You will need an alloy/mg type inlet manifold as well (if not already fitted).

Once you have bolted it all on you'll need to get it up to the RR so they can adjust the fueling for you.

You will see a performance increase fitting this, essentially you are fitting a stg 1 kit. Whether or not what you have suits the engine depends on its capacity etc. I would add that whilst you will see a performance increase over what is fitted as standard, you will not realise the full potential of the mods due to the bore size and possibly the design of the LCB (if you are fitting it to a 998).

May be a silly question byt why do I need an alloy inlet manifold as looking at the LCB it should bolt straight on?

Because the standard manifolds are cast as one piece so you can't (well you can but nm that atm) seperate them, I.e. the exhaust and inlet manifold.

I have a question on this, little random but a question none the less. Mr Vizard, on his hill climber mini he has much larger then a 2inch. Always wondered why.;

Sorry but the penny still has not dropped between cast alloy etc....I have had a look and my current sock exhaust will unbolt and the LCB wooks like it will boolt straight on! Am I missing the point..... god I sound like such a novice!

Cheers

The stock manifold incorporates both the exhaust and inlet manifold, whereas your LCB is just the exhaust manifold, meaning you have to purchase a seperate inlet manifold.

I personally wouldnt go larger than 1.75", due to performance.

points to lemming.

its well known that anything over 1.75 inch on a 998 will not help with performance, more likely making it sound like a fart and decreasing performance.

but it depends on if the system is 2 inch or 2.5, or if just the tailpipe is enlarged. is the system is 1.75 with a big tailpipe, then you should be ok.

it'll be alright whatever, just dont expect to reach the potential of your engine.

as mentioned before, your probably a lot better off ditching what you have and getting a stage one kit, much like this:

http://minispares.co....aspx?pid=32605

seems expensive, but when you have to buy a new inlet anyway, and think about finding the right needle for your carb, your basically much better off doing this.

plus it will put you in the ballpark tune so you shouldnt need to rr straight away if you dont have the cash.

rc40 is probably the best performing exhaust available with a good sound.
