Just been out driving round the lanes, and on one bit of (straight) road, the oil light started flickering/flashing. Seen a few flickers since, even on the dual carriageway. Seems to have lost power too, but only at times, and others seems to be normal. Should I be worried? and what should I do? :errr:

Sorry, should have said that first. I checked the oil as soon as i got back and it was fine. It's done 90,000 miles so think it could be on its last legs anyway.

It is worrying, as the oil pressure light comes on at some silly low pressure. If your lucky, its a faulty sensor, if yoru unlucky, rebuild/ new engine time.

Do you have a central oil pickup fitted to the engine/gearbox?

Could be your problem. They were fitted to help combat low engine oil levels when corning. All the oil goes to one side of the box and doesnt get picked up by the standard setup i believe.

Put a new switch in before you start to worry too much.

my car was the same it was losing power all the time i had 2 pull the choke out all the time so i took it 2 a rolling road they did a pressure test and it failed.he said he saw the oil light flickering so i took it to a garage to check the oil pressure and it was knackerd so new engine needed.hope yours is ok.
