Hello

I'm new to the forum. I've spent the last 3 years rebuilding a 92 Cooper SPi over here in the US and I'm currently reworking the head. I've got some new valve guides, (cast iron type, 12G1963), valves etc. on the way from Mini Spares. Once I press them into the head do I need to ream them or are they sized correctly?

First off welcome to TMF

Def need reaming to 9/32" From personal experience of valves sticking in new guides I wouldn't use an adjustable reamer either as I think that is what caused two of my valves to stick

Thanks for the advice. I'll go buy a reamer!

I've never reamed the guides, but you will have to re-seat the valves, which may take more than grinding paste...

I bought a reamer specifically for it. Actually, I had a job finding one locally, got if off ebay in the end IIRC.
