It was a good day out... although it was a bit chilly in the car park waiting for CB to 'arrive at the car park for 10 AM'!
Well, he was probably tired - just as well AndrewinLondon rang him to remind him we were there! He did make it in only an hour!
The museum is well laid out, with plenty of examples of fine British motoring history - like the Ford GT40 and the Bini! But I didn't see a Ford Anglia - my favourite of old-tyme British cars!
Speaking of the Bini - (and not wanting to start the neverending Mini v. Bini controversy
) - it was among the only three cars visitors can climb around - supposedly representing the different ages of the car. Funny thing was that the stalk switches were snapped off! I wonder if that particular car was a favourite of the trad Mini set! We were tempted to see if the BMW-designed paint job could stand up to a cleverly placed classic Mini door key - but we restrained ourselves!
Lunch at the pub was very tasty. It was the sort of place where Bangers and Mash were turned into 'Wild Boar and Apple sausages with Mustard Mash' - enjoyed by CB and Spoonz. However, despite the pretentious names, the prices were reasonable and the food was good - when we finally got there! We ended up taking the long way through the Museum car park and a 180-degree turn at a roundabout before we were pointing in the right direction!
It was a good way to spend a Sunday - I was home at a reasonable hour, got to meet some more good TMF people, chat about Minis and other similar subjects without boring the pants off of people, and check out some really nice cars!
I'll post my pix in the gallery once I get them appropriately converted to a reasonable size!
