I'm really new to the mini scene(I also live in Philadelphia, PA) and I have been tossing around this idea. I am think of putting an Ecotec engine(probably the 2.2L) into a classic mini. Are the Ecotec and the OPEL C20XE the same engine? I heard the Ecotec was the little sister of the C20XE. Does anyone know if they have the same mouting bracket/points? And does anyone make a front subframe for the swap that is easily available to ship across the pond?

Any help would be great,
Ryan

Great, thanks for the help tango.

As per the HP rating, there is a 205 Supercharged Ecotec engine for the SS Cobalt. I am sure that will be plenty for such a little car. And plus, the reason why I'd like to do this is because Cobalt engines are everywhere over here. OPEL engines not so much. And from what I have heard, original mini engines arent the most reliable things on the road. And getting parts shipped over from the U.K. I'm sure can get costly. So I'd rather do something that super unique, and will make the car 100 times more reliable with keeping the classic look.
