Can anyone tell me how the seam mouldings are normally secured to the mini body? See photo attached. My front left hand side one has popped off.

They do push on but there are usually a series of clips that go over the body seams prior to fitting the seam covers. The clips aren't always used following a re-spray. If clips aren't used it's important to tweak the shape of the cover to the contour of the car prior to fitting. Also, without the clips the method I've heard people use is to apply a little seam sealer to the inside of the cover before gently tapping it in place.

Check Mini Spares or DSN. I'm sure they have some of the clips.

I checked mini spares with no luck. Whats DSN? On my other three seams i taught they were nicely welded at the top but on closer inspection of the broken one it turns out it not welded but its actually a rock hard plasticy stuff that was folded over and pressed in (i think!) just under the roof gutter. Anyone any ideas what this stuff is? I would imagine its good for keeping the rain out of the seam as its just under the roof gutter drain holes?

mine are held on with clips that increase the size of the seem as it were, and then a self tapping screw holds them on at the bottom for extra security, you cant see the screw because the arches cover it

i have taken the seam strips off about 3 minis and all of them have just been pushed one/ pulled off. There is a series of different clips that runs along the seam and these hold the seam strip in place.

Whatever the original goo was that you found at the top of your seam cover, the common replacement is seam sealer. Don't use RTV silicone as it won't take paint.

For the clips, go back to Mini Spares and look up part #BMP128MS (using the setting "all words"). The search should return two parts, stainless and "regular" seam clips.

DSN is DSN Classics. When I buy direct from the U.K. I use either Mini Spares, Mini Sport, or DSN

I’ve also found on mine that the seam trims were put on before paint when first assembled at factory, so when mine were off i made sure to put some paint behind them to stop any rust.
