Hi,

At the the weekend I got around to ordering my Car stereo with iPod integration, I had to order off-line as Halford's had sold out of every car stereo with that feature. Today my Sony CDX-R3350 turns up with a Connects2 adapter, not really what I was expecting, but hay, I'm sure it works perfectly well, so off I go to connect everything up. Now at this point I thought to myself, "I'm a idiot, why would this be simple"!

Here is my problem;

Stereo

Wires (Top/Bottom)
Connect2 | Red, (IGN 12v) | Aerial IN | Aerial OUT
Blue/White (Loose (with Label, Amp REM MAX 0.3A)) | Purple (Light)/Black | Grey/Black | White/ Back | White | Green/Black | Green | Purple (Light) | Grey | Cyan (Loose) | Black | Red | Blue | Yellow

Wires (Left/Right)
Black | Green | Purple | Yellow/Black | Yellow/White | Orange/Black | Orange/White

So which coloured wires need to connect and how do I connect them. Obviously the Black plastic connectors from the stereo do not match the connectors in the car. Also I'm assuming the Red, (IGN 12v) needs to be wired in for power, so where and how?

Thanks for the help...

I *think* you'll need an ISO adapter, unless your car had a stereo in already. If you need one, you'll need the one that goes to bare wires, which you then wire into your car's circuitry.
I'm not very good at explaining to be honest, but check out the technical/prioblems forum, theres a whole help guide.
Good luck.

The white block should plug into one of the black blocks then.... the wire with metal on the end is the arial. The little black block im not sure about.... ask someone who knows mroe than me ;)
I think mine had that and we stripped it to bare wire, dont quote me on that though.

I should have said the white block in the car does not fit the black blocks of the stereo (different size), and the pins connected to the Yellow/Black | Yellow/White | Orange/Black | Orange/White wires don't match anything. I'm guessing I need to buy two connecting blocks to the stereo and wire in the car wires, but ONE; how, TWO: Is that currect? THREE; Which colour wire need to connect. Also, how and where do I wire the Connect2 Red Wire.

get a haynes manual and find the curcet diogram for the radio the colour wires should tell u what is what.

you need the ;)
12v constant live
12v switched live
earth line
(by the looks of u you only have one pair of speakers in the car. so u need to find out which is the left 2 (+/-) and the right 2 (+/-)

then go back to halfrauds and buy a iso block adapter with open ended wire on the end, oh and some chock blocks! the wire on the iso block will have wrighting on them to tell you which is which like on the few on the HU.

i can tell u now on the ends that are attached to the car with the black and white blocks on them, the black one is the speaker wires, and the white one is the power.

on the white on the black wire is your earth, i can never remember which is which out of the green and purple, one is switched one is constant.

and yes on the HU the red is the constant 12v, the yellow is switched power.

on ur connect 2 that red wire makes me think it needs power so that must be a contstant live....... but dont hold me to that.

sorry is all i can tell u so far

If you don't want to cut/chop a metro ISO adaptor shoudl work. go into halford and see if theyve got one, and ask to see if it fits before you buy it. One end shoudl plug into the car, other too the ISO block for the stereo.

Thanks for all the help, I think I'm going to go with the last suggestion first, if halfords have a plug n' play option it will be much easier then everything else.

Otherwise I will be back!!!

Hey, me again!

OK I am all wired up, found a converter in halford's, and the guy was actually really helpful. However I am still not up and running properly. Basically as far as I can see there is no sound? Which is a bit weird as before the speakers worked absolutely fine, I have tried putting the speaker connection in the front and rear just to make sure, tried playing a CD rather than the radio in case is was not getting a signal?

I'm starting to pull my hair out over this so I was wondering if anyone could suggest things I should check?

Thanks again, its very appreciated...
