Yet another problem i have!! Got a new lock set as i haven't got the keys to the old locks and decided to change them today started with the boot all went well then moved to a door!! Got the handle off no probs got everything ready to take the barrel out but would it slip out like the boot one!! NO what luck what shall i do whack it one or what?? Is it supposed to be tight?? Whats saying the otehr one won't be this hard to get in?? WHAT AM I MISSING???

THE KEY.


You have to put the key in the cylinder to drop the pins and extract it. That's what makes it a lock strangely enough!

The boot one must have been worn out, the drivers door will be just as bad. I'm guessing you're starting with the passenger side. Assuming you've removed everything from the end of the cylinder that is holding it in to the handle then it's just the key you need. You may find that your new keys will work well enough, or some screwdriver jiggling.

and don't forge to remove the Gripping washer form the back of the barrel. (just in case.)

I managed to get one barrel out but the new one won't go in (it'll go about half way then it's tight as hell) and i have got the key in!!!

me and my boyfriend did his new locks last week, we rubbed them with some sandpaper and a file, just a light going over..they were very tight, even with the key in.

Where did you get you're lock barrels from?

I got mine from Mini Spares a few years back and they went on no problem.

I got mine from dsn classics i'll try the sandpaper and file see if that works it's so tight the barrel won't turn which isn't much use as a lock!!!
