whats involved in changing the cam on an engine. because im sure u need to get the casing off.... i.e. the engine out.

Change cam. you got a 1275. Engine out, Gearbox off. Cam out, new cam in. timed in, new follower (before cam I should say).
Buy a haynes and read it up. Or read the other thread on the subject. It's an engine out job reglarless. Unless you got a flip front.

Cheers for that mate. Got 2 haynes manuals =p ones my dads, ones mine, both in the garage tho! just being lazy! cheers for that. Gonna undo the front subframe and just liftin the body off with a mate. Cheers matey! =p

if you cant be botherd to get you manual out of the garage, get a copy of this PDF haynes manual

When changing a cam it is also advisable to renew the cam followers, hence the requirement to remove the box.... but you don't hae to, just turn the engine upside down and then the cam can be removed without loosing the followers
