Im from sweden so excuse me if i may spell some words wrong.
I bought a Austin (BMC?) Mini 1000 - 1968 which we're about to turbo convert. And for that we're gonna need some major advice from others whom has been there or just happend to know way more than us.
So this is what i need help with:
Breaks - the drums arent that great - eh? So what to do? Advice? Where to buy perhaps?
Speedometre - i need an aproved for the mini so i can pass the inspection we have in sweden - so basicly original or simular? Again, link?
Gearbox - what did you do? does it need anything done with it?
We are aiming to be able to race it, which means the chassi might need some fixing to manage high speeds, any advice there? What to do? Perhaps there are some kits already? Anyways, all kinds of advice on there parts are very welcome!
Well i guess thats the questions for now anyways, i probably forgot something so if you got any other advice on what needs doing or so, lemme know!
Best regards
Victor

Fit Cooper S type discs up front, or if you don't mind switching to larger 12" wheels, then you can fit the more common and cheaper 8.4" disc brakes instead.

Again Cooper S because that will go up to 130mph or kph perhaps in you're country?
Gearbox - what did you do? does it need anything done with it?
Depends what condition it's in, but there's a whole host of things you can do to it, like fit close ratio gears etc.
We are aiming to be able to race it, which means the chassi might need some fixing to manage high speeds, any advice there? What to do? Perhaps there are some kits already? Anyways, all kinds of advice on there parts are very welcome!
Fitting a 6 point roll cage would certainly stiffen the shell and make it much safer for high speed racing. You might also want to uprate the suspension too and since it's a 1968 model, does it still have it's original Hydrolastic Suspension? If so fitting dampers (shock absorbers) and competition bump stops up front will make it handle a whole lot better. If it's been converted and is already running with dry/rubber suspension instead, then you can fit Hi-Lo's to adjust the ride height and firmer adjustable dampers. Plus there's negative bottom arms and adjustable tie-bars so you can fine tune the camber/caster angles and not forgetting the rear too.
All those items are available from Mini specialists like Moss or Mini Spares etc.

Fitting the discbreaks is alot of job, isnt it?
We have plans for a roll cage already. About the suspension I dont know atm, however ill look, all we've done is fix the engine.
