Hi,
I have a pretty standard Pioneer cd stereo (removable face plate) fitted with rear 120watt (?) speakers.
The sound is great from the rear speakers, but I was wondering if I could enhance things with the addition of some small speakers in the front doors.
I'm thinking of speakers no bigger than say, 7 - 10cm in diameter, that could be fitted flat against the door panel, and in b/w the door handle and window winder.
Any ideas on whether these speakers would integrate well with the rear speakers sound wise?
Can a standard cd stereo handle the extra speakers without any major mods or additions?
Do you recommend anyone in the London area who could fit them cost efectively?
Thanks in advance for responding....
Cheers,
Compact Door Speakers?

120W will be the RMS Wattage of the speakers, in reality they're probably closer to 40 or 50W.
I have some 10cm door speakers. Little Alpine jobbies, they fit in fine, although I had to cut a chunk out of the door with an angle grinder.
If your headunit has a 4×??W amp, (usually printed somewhere) then there will be a lead for each of the 4 speakers, front left, front right, back left, back right. In this case it's as simple as wiring the new speakers up to the spare wires. f you only have a 2 channel amp, then you'll need to just splice the cables going to your rear speakers. No big deal either way.

10cm are almost perfect for minis, you can mount them where the air vents come out of the dash (if you have one) or in the door pockets
the sound quality isnt anything to write home about, but they work well

the only thing with high range speakers is that high sound frequencies easily get muffeled. so a good idea is to oint them upwards a little. this way you wont recieve too much mid from the 10cm and no trebble

i would say that the 10cm ones are perfect, mine (shamefully) arent in a mini, and they dont provide a mass of power , but just add a little sound quality that you can hear, because your ears are pointed forward so they pick the sound from the front up better

if you really want some good speakers then get some components! and make sure they come with an external crossover!
