The pilot light bulbs for the headlights are 194 bulbs right?
I understand the problem with using LEDs in the turn signal lights as they don't generate enough heat/resistance to make the flashers work, but what could be the problem with using LEDs for the pilot lights?
Thanks
if it's REALLY simple, then I'll go kick myself after I get an answer

Thinking back to my a level electronics - LEDs can only handle a very small amount of current and without the correct resistor setup will blow instantaneously and it will look as though they haven't lit at all. If they are proper car bulbs brought from a shop then they SHOULD already have the correct resistor network in place to handle the high current that a cars electrical system can generate. I am encorporating LEDs into my dash and have had to create some of these networks.

the bulbs are designed as 12v automotive bulbs... direct replacements for the standard 194 bulb....
they are like the third ones down http://www.lightlens.com/ledbulbs.htm

Did you turn them the other way around to make sure that you have the polarity right?

the only problem is... I payed for superwhite, but they are amber... (the packing was mismarked from the store).... oh well.. at least now that I know I can use LEDs in my pilot lights, I'll look at another store and see if I can find the Super White LEDs (I want something I can put color caps on)
