No idea lloyd.

I would try dropping the oil and adding fresh oil if its been stood, as that is a pretty modified engine.

when it was streaming out of my breather it was due to a blown piston ring, however that was soon followed by a lot of oil etc.

I take it it didnt do this before?

is it smoke or is it steam? it could be evaporating condensation from inside the engine. just a thought as its been quite damp recently.

I'm guessing that because you can see what is coming from the breathers you have disconnected the PCV system and fitted filters in place of it. If so then it most likely will be condensation and will take a while to clear because there is nothing drawing it out as there would be if the system was still fitted as designed. If lots of condensation has been allowed to form in the engine (water collects in there from the blow by as well as from the atmosphere) then a flush and oil and filter change would be a very good idea. If you don't have a PCV system you need to be very vigilant about oil changes and do them more frequently because the crankcase is far more prone to filling up with carp.

i changed the oil nov last year (had the engine out) and has been locked away over winter. smells like burning oil/ exhaust fumes. i have got a spi engine in the garage should i put that in?

My guess is that its combustion products, the rings are worn causing blow by, do a compression test. It could also be oil vapour. Dont forget that the gearbox and crank are churning it up all the time.
