Guys,

I picked up a couple of tyres in Brighton last week, 165/70/12.. great I thought until I realised mine were 145/70/12.. :teehee:

Having searched the forum I gather the 165's are ok to replace the 145's (I think !) , but what about mixing them as two of the 145's are still OK....?

Any thoughts, apart from what a numpty I am :P

Thanks !

165/70/12 is a slightly unusual size for a Mini. Normally you'd see 165/55/12. You could find that they rub the bodywork a fair bit, they will have a 2" larger inflated diameter than the size normally chosen for wider rubber on 12" rims and 1 3/8" ish larger than the tyres you are replacing. It will also affect your speedo reading more than the more conventional change would. Even the 165/55/12 can rub the bodywork depending on the exact tyre make and model used (the squareness of the tyre shoulder is the issue here).

It would be less than ideal to have mismatched tyres on a Mini but not too disasterous.
