Ok driving almost 500 miles non stop will my turbo get stupidly hot, and fail on me?

In a word, NO. Providing it's in good condition and you allow the engine to idle for a while before turning it off you'll have no probs.
I presume it's the standard T3 ? What final drive are you using ?

You'll have no problems with the Turbo getting to hot.
Wait till you're running more boost and really caning it, you can get them to glow cherry red in the dark ..... :saywhat:

oh dear proposed mods are phase 2 avonbar cam and 1.3 rollers, also maybe a head by the time i do the run :saywhat:

It'll be fine. The only way you'll get it really hot is under high boost for prolonged periods, thrashing it round a track for example.
Driving long distances won't bother it, anyway if your careful with the throttle you'll be able to sit at about 80mph with it sitting just off boost, as it'll only be revving at about 3,500rpm.

ah spot on, ive decided i will use real low boost for ambling along,.... but at a turn of a screw instant power :grin:

Vent and/or lift your bonnet at the back. Helps a lot for air to enter/ heat to escape.
