Alright, I am new to this, and searches didn't help me find answers. I am trying to find out the difference between the HS2, HS4, HS6, HIF38, HIF44, and twins?? To me, this means nothing. Is one better than the other? Why? Just so you know, I am looking for reliable daily fast road use. Fun fun.

Thanks for the help.

reliable daily fast road is 1275 - 1380 with an HIF44 strapped to it...

The difference between the carbs is the choke size and the design.. in summary

The first part, the letters, describes the orientation of the choke and the position of the float bowl, so HS = Horizontal Side and HIF = Horizontal Integrated Float

The numbers describe the size od the choke in 1/8" fractions above 1", so HS2 = 1.1.4", 4 = 1.1/2" and 6 1.3/4".... 38 and 44 are the metric equivalent in mm..

The actual use of the carbs is dependant of the tune of a engine and the air flow requirements, ie there's no point putting a single HS2 on a 1275, but is perfectly adequate for an 850...

If you want more information on what carb for what engine, I'd Suggest getting your hands on a copy of David Vizards Tuniing BL's A series engine... Commonly called the Bible.
