Yep, grinder sparks are nasty things. They are just super hot particles of metal. Anything they land on can get damaged by them. Particularly glass and paintwork.

You have 2 choices with your windscreen:

1 - Put up with it

2 - Replace it

Option one is not really an option as you wiper blades will get cut to ribbons

Sorry to steer off topic, but how would you get the AA to fit the screen for you?

I've used a razor blade at 40-45 degrees and that had taken most of it off, you'll hear a weird sound which i can't describe :D

RAC Windscreens don't give you a windscreen just because you're with the RAC. They are just a windscreen company like any other, indeed they were any old windscreen company until the RAC bought them. You can get one if you have fully comp insurance and the damage is bad enough to fail the MOT and not repairable, but you'll still have to pay the glass excess. If not, you pay them full price. Maybe there's a discount for RAC members but it won't be free. Why should it be?

The best experience is getting one of those sparks embedded in the cornea of your eye!
Been there, done that!
Gives you a new respect for glasses
:D
