Hi guys,
My name is Mark, I currenly own a Nissan Skyline which I'm tying to sell. When she goes I'd like to do a bike engined mini.
I have just a couple of simple questions for you.
How big is the difference in power / speed from an R1 mini to a busa powered mini?
Is it possible to build a bike powered mini without using the Z-Cars kit or would it be too much hassle, and just easier to pay out for the kit.
Taking into account that I'm a car mechanic by trade, If I was to put 2 nights and 1 day a week into the build, how long would it normally take to do the kit. (assuming that I have a sound shell with no rust etc...)
Thanks for your help.
Mark.

Time scale is a tough one to guess? But people have made their own bike engined mini's, but the kit is sound and saves a lot of fabrication.
Regards the busa / R1 options it all depends on what you want? I have been in both and in standard form there is not much difference in performance to justify the extra cost of a busa- R1 engine £500 to £1500 and busa between £2000 and £3000, the busa has a bit more torque. However the busa has a whole lot more tuning potential - only your wallet is the limit and 400bhp is not uncommon

Don't think I'm going to be putting 400bhp through it, so it looks like the R1 is a better option then.
Thanks for your help. I have to save a few pennies before I can really start to think about the project.
And sell my car too.
Cheers
