i will be converting my 1979 auto mini 1000 to a manual 1275 in the near future.
ive a few questions firstly though.
will the hole in the floor for the auto gear shifter line up with the shifter for the manual, ie will i have to cut another hole?
i already know that i can use spacers in my auto subframe but im getting a manual subframe with the engine,
would it be easier to fit the subframe and all the other components such as brake assembleys then fit the engine or do it all together?
i assume the change of the pedal box is easy?
is there a guide to this type of conversion?
thankyou

I'm not sure you can convert an auto to manual?

Presuming they mean a complete swap, not a conversion as such!
Yes, the hole on the tunnel is the same on an '79. The bolt holes are the same etc.
In answer to your other question, it depends how competent you are mechanically. Is the car already on discs at the front? If not, make sure you upgrade to discs from drums before you attempt to put a bigger engine in......unless you have a death wish!
If it's already on discs and they are all working fine etc, it would probably be easier to buy the spacers etc from one of the mini parts people and leave the auto subframe where it is.

glad thats the case with the tunnel as the last thing i want to be doing is cutting holes in the floors
i dont have disks at the momment but am sourcing a 8.4 inch setup and more than likely doing the fiesta conversion
