Hi, I've just bought a KAD bias pedal box. When attempting to fit it I realised that the breather filter coming off the bell housing/clutch housing was in the way.

What I need to know is can I blank this breather filter off? I have one other breather filter which comes off the back of the engine. Would blanking this off do any damage to the engine? This wouldn't be a permanent fixture just something to get me by for the next month or two.

I have included some pictures to try and help describe the problem.

As you can see the breather filter is in the way of one of the master cylinders.

Cheers for any help.

Under no circumstances blank of engine breathers, infact the more you have the better... if you do crankcase pressure will increase and you start popping seals ( usually the first of which is the primary seal which spells the end of your clutch plate )

What you can do is fabricate a shortened breather (either by cutting the one you have and removing a section then welding it back up ) or which is more common in performance motors, creating a breating system and catch tank where all the breathers are connected through the rocker cover and then a pipe to a catch tank for any escaping fluids.

Alternatively, you could just rey turning it round and bolting it on the other way :D

absolutely right ....... I was supplied with an engine that should of been fitted with one on the clutch housing. Within 100 miles the clutch plate was duly lubricated with some of Halfords finest 20/50.

easiest thing to do is cut the breather below the oil catcher and then attachhed a k&n filter on it.

Could I cut the breather pipe below the canister shaped part, then fastened the breather filter to it, so its sitting under the pedal box. Eventually I will get round to routing the breather filters into the rocker cover.

yeah that'll be fine. you only need the flame trap (canister) if they're connected to the carb.

Just buy the beather type fitted to the later mini's with the big servo! It is shorter and the bottom pipe joins the side of the canister so it is at an angle! :D
link to part! You want number 36 on this!

or a much easier option - why dont you just attatch a bit of pipe to it, and then fit the filter somewhere else, as it's only a small part of the filter that's even in the way!
