I'd take the crank along to a machine shop let them check it out and regrind if necessary - they'll be able to size the journals so you get the right shells at the very least.

Shouldn't cost you any more than the gaskets to rip it to bits in the future if you just bolted it back together as it is now.

It runs straight and true. No regrind needed.

So the crank faces aren't scored then ? If they aren't then surely you just need new bearings....perhaps whoever put the engine together before didnt lube them up when assembling....

Didn't they tell you what size bearings to use?

I'd always replace bearings during a full strip down after all that effort it'd seem daft not to.
