I am getting some work done on my mini and have found rust areas which need to be fixed but I am not sure which panel replaces them and how its actually done. Both passenger floor pans are being replaced and the outer sill's

What size/spec sills do I need for a Mini City E?
What are the areas I have photo grapphed underneath which need work
What panel is the big hole in on the foot plate?

I have learnt so much about my mini/mini's in general and cars/mechanics since owning her thanks to this forum and I want to thank everyone that has allways helped me.

Mucho thanks

Karl & Pheebs!!

sills....just mini saloon sills, don't go for over sills, it's the ones with the air vents in you need. first pic, seems to be where the floor meets the inner wing, so i would say you need an inner wing rear edge repair panel at least. the second pic, the red one appears to be a door step, passenger side. am not sure about the last one, if you have dropped the rear sub frame it could be a heel board

Hi there

Try DSN Classics

http://www.dsnclassi..._Panels_52.html

They are pretty cheap and the panels are not bad either.

Wow, I really favour their prices over what I have just paid for front end panels...

I just counted 6 vents on my Mini City E's outer sills...so do I want a 6 vent narrow sill from DSN?
Also

Wheres this mini inner wing edge repair panel? Also front floor pans??

These jobs, can they be done sucessfully by my neighbour who has worked on my mini before although he normally works on mondeos and the like...he has a Mig welder and no spot welder. I am just worried about anything we don't know to look out for like; preventing panel warp or car falling apart.

Many Thanks

Karl

I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the narrow sill only goes as far as the end of the vents. So it depends on how far the rust extends down the sills, the wider sill will include the vent and a little bit extra. As for if your neighbour can do it, it all depends on how good he is, if he has been doing welding on Mondeos then I'm sure he'll be fine. It’s always good to expect the worst, because as true as nuts as u start removing panels there will be a hidden rust mine underneath. When doing the sills its best to brace the body by welding "X" or even a "/" into the door space, this will prevent the body from bending in the middle, some people get away with just wedging wooden planks in the same way!! It’s best to take your time!!

As for the other panels, give them a ring they may have them in stock but just not on the website, other than that try Britcom (Maybe Britcon) in Highhalden in Kent, they also supply body panels, best to get the number from directory enquiries!

Good Luck

Thanks Andy thats highlighted some areas I would of overlooked. Welding X or / into the door. How about fixing/replacing the inner wing repair edge panel? Is that even the right panel to fix the rust right at the front of the floor just behind front left wheel?

I would have thought it was the flitch panel but i may be wrong, the flitch extends from under the scuttle including the vent hole and down to the sill. Its the panel you would kick with your outside foot it you were sat in the seat and swung your leg forward! You obviously dont have to replace the whole panel!!

Hope this helps!
