Hi all, I have a 1991 mayfair. It has an intermitent problem with the circuit that has the indicators, brake lights and reversing lights. Four fuse box, i have changed all fuses recently, does not appear to have any dodgy connections at the fusebox. It does not blow fuses but only works when it feels like it. where do I start?!!
indicator problem

ah the good old mini electrics dodgy conections no doubt
i am currently restoring a 1990 mayfair and nearly all the electrical connections are corroded especialy all the bullit conections even the ones inside the car.
i am going to remove all of these and solder all connections and heat shrinkthem all for better reliability (hopefully)
cheers mark

sounds like a bad earth,
check to see if connections are corroded
if not look at cleaning the earth conections

Check that the wiring for the reverse light switch isn't shorting. You need to look underneath the car and check the gear selector housing and the reverse light switch (sticking out the side). It may be chafing against the exhaust or something.

Sounds like the same problem I’ve had with mine were the brake/reversing lights, indicators and rear window heater all go while driving at the most inconvenient times. For me every time it happens it's normally some lose/corroded connection at the fuse box because a quick fiddle with the wiring and taking the fuse out and back in again all systems suddenly spring back in to life and work, as they should.

thanks for your replies, It was a dodgy connection at the fusebox. Nice easy fix, now I just need to get out the grinder and welder for the usual problems!!
