help! can i use the standard timing dots on duplex timing gear to time a kent 266 cam advantages? disadvantages? im new to it so i im dont know what a woodruff key is and what not please help

best results = time it in properly (plenty of instructions about in the tuning books, web sites, etc)
it would work dot to dot, but if you want the best out of the cam you have bought... then time it in properly...

Something I never got.
If the cam need to be out by "X" amount. Why not grind to that so the dot to dot still works out fine?

(1) - Manufaturing tolerances - production runs can and do run wide tolerances so are often not exact. this is true for both the cam, crank and timing gears.
(2) - Altering the cam timing eitherway can alter the charecteristics of the engine - ie more peak power, or more low rev torque.

but you can read it in a book - vizard one will show you how... or google it... or search mini sites..

I might add as no 2 engines, especially modded ones, are the same the only way to get the absolute most is with a rolling road.
That'd be expensive so I'd get all the advice / info you can to make an educated guess at what will suit your particular setup.
