I am hoping to buy a 1275 engine in UK - see my Wanted message posted today. Not many available in Australia so cost is very high. Anyway, arranging crating and shipping has to be tackled by the seller or me. Anyone had any experience with this?

Cheers,
Steve

Rubber dingy and a pair of ores haven't let me down in the past - takes a while tho

There are a couple in my mini club that do a lot of shipping both in and out. They seem to find it fairly straight forward. I'll ask for you.

Any shipping comanies that do cars would do an engine no probs. but it does take a while and costs quite a lot!

I'll dig out the email address of a guy we used to ship a land rover to the states, might take a little while to find though because i dunno where it is!

Not really. Cars have wheels, they are easy to move. And they are big and take up a set prebooked amount of room. A small box with an engine in that is really hard to handle is not going to be remotely similar. Specialist shippers like to stick to what they know, this is more general courier work than specialist.

Personally I'd fly it, shipping will take at least 12 weeks. Air freight costs a lot less than people think. Cross Flight is the cheapest company I have found to Australia. They got me a two ton pallet to Australia in five days for about £600.00 I seem to remember. Two hundred kilos would be easy by comparison, so long as the person you buy it from crates it well.

Try the following

www.daviesturner.co.uk

They have offices in Manchester and Heathrow and could organise the packaging for you.

If you need any further help i'll be happy to as this is the field i work in.

Thanks all for your suggestions. It gives me some confidence to move forward, but still got to find a 1275 engine to buy. Cheers.
