Can you tell I am not far away now from completing now, but dealing with having to do the sticky things I would love someone else to do :teehee: Still haven't done those pesky arches.

There is a place by me I can get halfday testing on a circuit for £70 -

Sounds like a good deal, but I need to get my db's down to at least 105 - I am guessing they will be nearer 120db?

(r1 2005 inj, single silencer)

So how have other people overcome this - I imagine I need to add another silencer, but have seen things that insert into the silencer - worthwhile?

Also has anyone measured the dbs from their zcars exhaust? What type of engine was it?

thanks for the help.
phil.

Hello,
I think Dale(R1minimagic) is away today at Oulton, so I'll answer as I helped with this, Dale bought a cheapish noise meter I think from Maplins, tested with the setup that came with ZCars, it was over 120db, took it to simpsons exhausts and they changed the backbox to a standard R1 can, the grey and alloy end type mounted across the back just behind the differential and then exiting in the standard mini place. When it returned it was reading approx 102.7, it was tested proffessionally at the Castle Combe miniday and read 102.3 or something

Somewhere on the forum are a few pictures of the fitted can but I can't find them at the moment, Dales motor is a 1998 carb R1

Cheers
David

Cheers David,

To be honest, it should have had the right silencer in the kit from Z cars from the start. What's the point in having one of these cars if it is impossible to do even the odd track day from time to time.

It cost me an extra £550 to get the noise down to the right limit and even now i am limited to tracks with a 105dB limit.
