Just went on a test drive in the revamped BINI Cooper S. If you've got nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon then go and try one out. Was a great laugh. My Dad has one but I banned from driving it other than moving it around the drive. They are very rapid. And a better drive than the first model (first BINI nor classic) and great fun to drive. I think the demonstrator must have een the calmest man i have ever met as he didnt bat an eyelid when he handed the keys of 1.6 turbo to a 20 year old who then went and thashed it around a bit. Anyone on here got one? I know there are some fans on here. Oh and don't worry Im still a classic mini man.

bi-turbo... nah, i prefered the supercharged one, nice noise. =p Has it got a stupid over over sized dial in the middle in that one?

My Dads got the supercharged one which is fun but it gets a bit whiney. It also has more lag when you put your foot down which is surprising as you expect more lag from the turbo. The new one is faster aswell. At the end of the day there is no chance I wouldnt swap it for my mini

I was testing the pre-production ones at cowley until we had the fire :teehee: then we were restricted to 3000rpm and 50mph. i still hold the unofficial test track speed record. (please dont get the image of a banked raceway... its lots of cobbles, some wavy concrete and a high speed run cosisting of 2 roundabuts and 400 yards or roadway!!!!)

would have thought the turbo model would have more tuning potential.....

i.e. whack the boost up

The Works kit doesnt come out til the end of the year, so its going to be interesting to see what they do with it. On the old one they just whacked on a bigger supercharger and then cosmetics. I think the car has potential to be good fun.

Yea ive driven them, i work at the MINI plant in oxford too, i think the new turbo version is a lot better than the supercharged one, they are a lot quicker. Im getting one in august aswell, accept im only getting the cooper d not the s, Although the d is pretty good aswell, they are very torquey. Dont worry though all you Bini haters, ive got a classic one aswell
