998 Crank Belt Pulley On 1275?? Possible?

hi there im running out of time and money and ive noticed my fan belt pulley from the crank is knackered the rubber bit is perishing. i havent got the time or money to replace it now but ive got one on my 998 thts in good condition only problem is its different its got a fatter section of metal sticking out towards the radiator. the metal on the 1275 one has about 2cm of metal where as the 998 metal finishes after the belt. please help

I'd go with the 1275 one unless it's so bad it looks like it might fall in 2.

i think all A+ engines had the damper pulley so if you can find one in the scraps shouldn't cost you much.

if the 998 one has a rubber bit in it like the 1275 one put it on.

does it have to have the rubber bit because ive bin told it doesnt really matter and that its just to do with new and old technologies and how the torque is distributed around the pulley

hi again someone asked if the pulley was that bad you cudnt use it so i thought id show you. let me kneo what you think?

On a 1275, the crank 'damper' is very important for the life of the crankshaft. Failure to use one will result in a snapped crank after prolonged use without one. Note the operative word is prolonged :)

I have never seen any 998 with a crank damper fitted from the factory, its simply a pulley.

I would not advise fitting just a pulley to the 1275 long term.

If the rubber in the damper is so severely perished it should be replaced. Minisport have a huge stock of these and cost £40 or so, bit steep some might say for what it is, but there you go.
