Hi All,

Just wandering if anyone has any experience and views about hypatec pistons? Anyone looking for pistons online im sure has come across them, very cheap, come with Hastings rings from Australia and produced by Precision International which seem to be a long established company and into their motorsport etc.

I have a set of the 73.5mm pistons and im not going to comment as i wouldnt know a good piston from a bad one but the guy at the machine shop said they seemed good and that the Australian's were making good pistons nowadays.

I do have a particular question about them that i am hoping someone will be able to help me out with, and that is does anyone know the dish cc of the 73.5's? Mini13 believes they could be 10cc and the ebay seller said "we estimate them to be 7cc", in response to that i asked was that just an educated guess and they said they will measure them next time they are in the machine shop but i haven't heard back from them (which is in itself strange since they say " we use these ourselves"). Mine are installed in half engine in car so due to the angle cannot accurately measure them.

Any help and general opinions much appreciated.

That would be the obvious thing to do but couldnt find any contact details, it does seem that they have updated the website since the last time i looked but still no email address.

I managed to determine that they have at least an 8cc dish which i am happy about.....but still interested in people's opinions about them, is it just a case of you get what you pay for or are these actually a bargain?

what angle ???

be a carry on but you could jack the car to level the block face.

or make a mould using plasticine to get some idea

or stick a perspex sheet to a cylinder with a little hole in the middle to syringe some oil through

In my infinite wisdom i already jacked up the back of the engine yesterday, which is how i managed to ascertain it has between 8-10cc, not 100% accurate but i know it has more than 8 so not a silly CR!
