Hi, I hope some 1 can help me on this one. Ive just fitted a new gear box 2 my mini and changed timing chain, clutch, cam and lots more. Ive now pretty much rebuilt the engine and checked all bolts are tight. In doing so one of the bolts which is used to hold the gear box to the block, has snaped the head off. Does ne one know a way of getting it out, ive got very little thread showing not enought 2 get a hold of it,its the bolt thats at the front of the engine but 2 the very right hand side under the timing chain,.its to close to the box 2 get a drill in or a tap. i really dont want 2 take every thing apart and start again! please can some one help me on this lil problem lol...

If it's a fresh or clean bolt, you should eb able to get it out pretty easily, as without the head on the bolt, it's only friction on the thread that'll be holding it in.
I had a the head of a cylinder head bolt in an old 325 snap off, and the rest of teh bot came out very easily.
Have you tried just sticking something (screwdriver, etc?) in the hole to make contact with whats left of the bolt to try twiddle it out?

Another way, is by using a concrete nail as a chisel.. slowly hits the broken screw to anticlockwise.. using some knocking technics at the side of the g/box and apply WD4. or
Any chance to spot weld the broken screw?... using extended screw welded on it..
My 2 cent thinking....

Take the box off and take the bolt out with a stud extractor....
You can't forget about it, as oil will *yellow human water* out of the 1/2 moon seal between the engine and case..
using a hammer and any sort of chisel will risk cracking the case...
Also, check your torque wrench as these bolts are only meant to be done up to 6lbft so if you snapped a bolt, you're seriously over tigtening them....
