A few people have just taken the car to an MOT centre that will test it and have passed and are on the road with the original registration, but if you look on the DVLA website here

It says anything that has been radically altered must be SVA'd and registered with a Q reg if it fails the points system or a second-hand or modified chassis or altered monocoque bodyshell is used, a single vehicle approval (SVA) certificate will be required , but you can get a 07 reg if everything is new, I think your allowed one major component secondhand that has been reconned, look at this thread for more details

The first place i took it to for MOT were scared to give it an MOT because they had never seen one before and didnt want to lose their license, it sat there a week for a DVLA inspector to come out but he never came.
DVLA on the phone said to just take it and get an MOT, so i took it to another garage. They phoned up DVLA and they told them to just MOT it as a normal car, so they did!
The emissions are tested on the age of the car rather than the engine so i was ok.
Nobody asked me if it had passed an SVA test when i phoned for insurance, so i dont see what the problem is, you just need a friendly garage that is prepared to MOT the car.

I think as long as the car is based on a shell that has already been registered then you are ok. I spent many an hour talking to DVLA etc on this and not one of the people i spoke to knew what the situation was!!

I don't know if that can be done in Holland but worth a try. Will phone my insurance compagny. Could save an SVA test, transport to and from England and RDW check for me....
About 1500 pounds......

i asked the guy who was sva'ing my mates car about mine, (thought might as well while i was there,)
HE SAID (his words)
if i was in your situation i wouldnt bother, if a garage deems it fit to be on the road you should be ok,
if you have a V5 on the origional car you should be fine as you wont need a Q plate,
the thing you have in your favour is the fact that it is still shaped like a mini and if someone was hit by you
they would reflect of the body shell the same as you would be if you was hit by a 998cc mayfair.
SVA tests are mainly there on bodywork and detail of work,
they are mainly interested in things such as good brakes and safety of people who may get hit by the vehicle,

the thng that scared me the most was the fact of how my mates kit car was driven around the hanger where it was tested, it was put
into the brake testing rollers with the front wheels in it slammed down in the hole, his sump hit so hard i felt it in the floor where i was standing,
i have done some measurements and with my back wheels in the hole .,i have worked out if my car was to go into that brake testing rollers i would land on the
exhaust manifold!!!! it would make a right bloody mess! this happen to anyone ?
the garage im taking it to is a mate of mine and he said he will do a Deacellaroter test (excuse spelling) out on the road with me instead of
putting it on the roller hole.
