Pot joint gaiters are easy and the shaft doesn't have to come out of the inner member of the joint to do it. Just remove the existing gaiter and the joint will split into two parts. Clean it all up and re-grease with the moly included with the gaiter. The new gaiter fits around the inside of the inner member and is secured in there as it would be normally to the outside of a joint. Then you stick the two sections back together and secure the gaiter around the outside of the outer member. The gaiter is all that holds the joint together. Just make sure it all stays clean inside and if you do both at once don't get the inner and outer parts of each joint mixed up with each other.

As I said you can leave the inner member of the pot joint on the shaft. The outer joint is really easy to get off, get something soft to catch the joint or a mate to hold it and hold the shaft up verticaly with the outer joint at the bottom. Holding the shaft tight, smack the back of the CV joint with a soft faced hammer. A couple of strikes and it will come off, make sure it doesn't drop on the floor!
