Hi guys !!
Greetings from Portugal!
I have on my mini a 1275cc engine from a 1974 Austin 1300.
Recentlly I repaired it, but now I would like to tune it, without reboring.
Any sugestions?
I was thinking about starting with a double valve spring kit, a stainless steel exhaust manyfold and a MG Metro 1275 carburetor.
Thanks everybody.

Ok,

Go to Amazon.co.uk

Order the book "David Vizard - How To Tune The A-Series Engine"

Read.

Come back after that. Might be a bit of a pain to get it shipped to yourself though so it might be worth asking local book shops 1st.

I think you'll be pleased when you get it... that Austin 1300 engine is very likely to be similar spec to a cooper s :-

But the 1275 metro engine is better, right?

I don't think a standard metro would be, no... metro turbo head might be about as good from what I've read though....

Think the only difference with a turbo head is larger valve stems beacuse of the extra heat.

....I think.

The Austin 1300GT engine is, yes - otherwise it's a boggo 1275 I think.

I thought the 1300GT engine was much the same as the type fitted to the Mini 1275GT?

Either way it's a good engine with plenty of scope for modifying.
