Hello Mini Gods,
My brakes decided to go all funny last Friday and after Bleeding the system, hopefully properly, they still arnt working. Whats happening is when i press down on the brake pedal sometimes nothing happens in terms of braking power, panic sets in, and sometimes there willl be a little bit of power. However when i pump the brakes frantically the brakes work, however the power does drop along wth the pedal unless i continue to pump. The weirdest thing is when i turn the steering wheel the brake pedal rises and the brakes work. This happens even when i turn a corner the front brakes start to work causing one wheel to slow down and me to get this "aqua planing" feeling. The Master cylinder is losing brake fluid as well.

Please help me mini gods as i desperately need my mini asap as im going to France in it on Wednesday.

Thank You

Lucas

Pump it till its hard (the pedal :shifty: ), then brace the pedal down with wood to the seat cross member and leave it overnight.

Jack her up 'n give her front wheels a wobble sounds like you've got a badly worn wheel bearing.

What happens is the wobbly brake disc pushes the pistons back into the caliper further than you can push 'em out with one pump of the brake pedal.

Just to be sure, check that you're brake fluid is at the same level in the master cylinder once you've pumped the brake back into service (If I'm right you'll actually have more fluid in the reservoir when your brakes have gone AWOL.

Oooo very spooky - as I'm typing AWOL 10cc are singing the exact lyrics from the Dean and I on Radio 2 :shifty:

Both wheels are wobbling around like crazy. However it seems to be the driseshafts that are loose? Does that seem right?

tested the fluid as well and your right there is more fluid when the brakes go AWOL.

What do you think i should do now? What parts will i need to fix it?

Thanks so much for helping

you need to determine whats busted, as ethel says it does sound like knackered wheel bearings. it could also be that the hub nut has come loose allowing it all to move and the driveshaft (cv) to appear loose. time to strip it down and check whats worn.

wheel bearings usually make a whirring sound as you drive along for ages and ages before they actually go...

get it up in the air and see where the play is coming from. by the sounds of it its a >_< bearing or the hub nuts come undone.
