Stuck again.With my engine in, and engine stabilizer fitted, the bottom of the carb is touching the bulkhead, is this a common fault? Also do you need to plum in the inlet manifold to the water system? Any advice would be much appreciated.

The solution would be to fit the ERA type adjustable engine steady. This way you can tilt the engine forward a little to provide clearance.
I wouldn't bother plumbing up the water to the manifold, though on a totally standard setup it may actually be worthwhile as it probably cools the inlet charge a little. If you're planning on running an intercooler then obviously don't consider plumbing it in.
