When i bought the engine it did not have any coolent, fuel or oil pipes, Non what so ever! :gasp: I have rebuilt the engine with all the new essiantials. And am at the point were i need to plumb it all in so i can give the engine a run before the body goes for a respray! So this is were you guys come in  (i hope!) Can any one get in touch who knows to help another mini friend out? Appreciate any feed back

hi paul welcome to TMF to start with...

couple of questions for you

1. do you have a fuel tank with a return pipe? if not you will need one..

2. are you putting an oil cooler in it, and where?

3. do you have a fuel regulator?

these answers to these questions need to be known and some pictures will help please..

Ye will be fitting an oil cooler on the frount cross memeber of the
frount sub frame, i also have a fuel regulator for which i have
made a bracket for and will eventially be fitted to the bulk head.
I do have a standard fuel tank it does how ever have a over flow
out let at the top, Can this be used as the fuel return pipe? Or is that a
silly question? I do have pictures but just have not got round to loading
them on the PC, but i can appreciate that pictures are vital to give the
correct info!
I do have quite an experianced back ground when it comes to minis however i am
a complete novice when it comes to turbos! I know the basics and hope you guys can help me out with the rest! :cheese:
I do have a few questions:
1: What size does the fuel pipes have to be?
2: And with regards to boost preasure, (the dump valve and actuator). If i want to run say 6psi as standard preasure and say 10 psi for those mad moments does the dump valve and actuator need to operate at 6 psi or 10 psi? If i was to get them set at 6 psi how does the engine ever reach 10 psi? I understand you have a mechanical bleed valve to do away with the standard ECU, and its this that boosts the preasure but dont exactly understand how it works as you have all probably guessed by now! Laughing to your selves!
Any feed back would be great!
Cheers Paul

Hi and welcome.
You cannot use the breather at the top of the petrol tank for your return as it's far to small. What you need to do is braze a new pipe to the tank for the return. You also need to ideally weld a new larger fuel outlet for the pump, 10mm is ideal for both.
The actuator is what controls boost pressure, a dump valve has nothing to do with this. The standard actuator is set to 4.5psi, to run any more boost you will either have to employ a bleed valve or change the actuator for a higher boost one.

Oh also i wouldn't bother with an oil cooler, the oil rarely gets hot enough to need one.

Phil.

yep phils right again, i'm from turbominis this is my first post on this forum good to see all the other boys from turbominis on here too, i personally wouldnt bother with an oil cooler ubless you go over 100 bhp, also the best way to increase boost is to get an actuator as it gives more boost at lowers revs and is more reliable, also easy to fit, oh fuel line need to be 8mm feed and return, put the ecu in the bin hope this helps nice to meet u guys
