well for example take oli's busa build - think he sad roughly around 14-15k, insured for 18k

kit is £5200

then all extras optional to buy.....could rack up to 4k or so

the engine itself - £500-1200ish?

all adds up :/

Ha ha, Busa engines are usually at least about 3k, R1 engines I think are about 1.5-2k. I don't believe anyone has made change from £10k yet.

Mine will definately be under that, but I couldn't say by how much exactly, but then again, its doesn't have any shiny new bits - unlike the posh ones on this site that all look really good. I intend to make do to get some runs in, then reshell etc as a seperate project.

Hiya wil like you say kit is around 5k, when i added, front frame, wiring loom, reverse and lsd you are looking at 7k, then the engine that was £2300, i had to spend another £200 on bits that were missing even so i think was cheap for a busa motor with around 6000 miles on it, you might get a 2001 engine with 50000/60000 miles on it for somewhere near £1700, but for something out of an 04/05 bike you can look at 3k+.Also i did all the work on my old shell which amounts to 300 in panels and sundries and then 1100 to get it finished, filled and painted-if you use a brand new shell that is 4k with paint, i reckon i spent around 11000 on kit engine and shell and like you say around 4-5k for the plumbing, wheels, engine panels, brakes ect to finish, and yes its very true it all adds up!

sorry jammy, i was actualy reffering to a R1 engine, never looked at prices of a busa engine!!

the best people to ask are the people who have actually got a z cars mini running >_<

also, its gonna be a fairly open range, like people have said aiming for a 10k build....but no new parts etc

peopleusing new parts, wanting everything top.....racking up a lot, im intrigued in how much ade's build cost, wasn't it a £3-4k brand new shell he used?

I think I have done my sums fairly well and my budget all in is 6K - 7K, at the moment based upon a pro-motive kit and the engine and all necessary bits that I got for £1300.00.

I think supermotolee has done well at 4K and i'll be asking for lots of advice in the future, I do rely on specialist help as I am not brilliant at just about everything you should be to do a conversion like this.

engine, fuelling, ecu etc from donor bike - £1300.00
subframe kit / diff etc - £3000.00 approx
Quaife upgrade £550.00
wiring and electric fan kit £300.00
radiator and hoses etc £500.00
front body modifications and paint ( front inner wing in the main ) £300.00
digital dash and speed censors / fiting and programming £450.00
pedal assy / throttle mechanism modifications

I'm fairly lucky that I have already got very good braking set-up, a very, very solid shell, and a fully adjustable rose jointed front end set-up.

Andy's minus is being built with all new parts and is set to come in at around £16k. This doesn't include any labour charges or bodyshop charges as we've done it all ourselves.

Nope the shell wasn't new but still cost £1500

Then £1500 for the paint job.
Engine £1200
Z-cars kit (built for minus) about £7000 inc reverse and options
Front subby added later so that was another £500
by the time you then add everything else wheels arches seats dial etc etc I stopped counting at about £15000............ :shifty:
