Has anyone tried and tested any alternative soundproofing? The standard stuff weighs a ton and holds moisture like a sponge.

I've been using some quite cool stuff for the bulkhead and a little on the floors. Can't remember what it's called or where it came from but it's like a sandwich of closed cell foam with a sheet of 1mm lead in the middle, then some heat reflective foil on the outside and it's adhesive on one side. Very cool, very easy to cut and form to fit floor pans, bulkhead details and stuff. Holds it's shape well because of the lead and works well. You don't want to use it everywhere though as it's very heavy, and because of the foam it doesn't stop panel drumming much so it's not ideal everywhere, but it's good around a booming exhaust or for the bulkhead.

Thanks Dan, that stuff might be handy to put in the boot, cause the twin exhaust is reet loud. I've dropped a mail to these guys, customaudiodesigns.co.uk, lets see what they come back with

A mate of mine used a product called brown bread on his Corsa. It is very good if a little pricy.

I've completely covered petal's panels in flashing ( ali backed bitumen tape ), not moisture gets through that... not so much sound proofing but sound deadening... removes boom and road noise, and costs a fraction of brownbread...
