After a few test drives of my car today I noticed something.
If braking really hard (locking wheels) there is a kind of thump (once) from the front of the car, kind of how an engine knocks about when the steady bushes are gone. But it is a one time knock only when braking suddenly.
Is this indicating worn subframe bushes? If so I guess I'll just order a solid mount kit and replace all the mounts (floor, tower and front panel).
Subframe mountings

Hi looking to change the two front subframe mounts but is it possible to change them with the subframe in place?? (by supporting both car and subframe and then removing front two?)
would be greatful for advice on this one, thanks guys

You mean the front teardrop mounts? You can change them without supporting anything really (except the car obviously!). Same for the toe board mounts pretty much. It's only when you remove the two tower bolts that things get tricky. You shouldn't actually drive with missing mounts but for changing them with it on stands it's OK.

I meant to say, for the toe board mounts do one side at a time if the frame or engine isn't supported. Not really dangerous but it'll make the mounts harder to fit if you pull out both at once as the gap will close up.
