A while ago mini sprocket told me that the ecu on my car (mne 101070) is uncoded, i also have another ecu (mne101150) from an eqinox i know he said i would lose power but would this make a good emergency spare and would it just be a simple case of plugging it in and working? Both are single plug ecu's which you say are better than twin plug one's.
I also have a spare 3as alarm ecu and remote from a metro as on my car would this make a good spare? i assume that the 3as system,s are not coded to any specific ecu unlike the later 5as alarm?

The real question is?

Yes i can only speculate what you say to be correct, however be aware that if the metro was fitted with door lock switches, the Mini was not, you would have to compare wiring diagrams. All 95 onwards wiring looms have the apropriate wiring. It wasnt untill circa 95 that coded alarms and ECUs were fitted as an option. it wasnt until 96 that all were fitted with the alarm imobiliser system.
