I changed my head gasket a few weeks ago as the gasket had gone between cylinder 3&4, all went fine with no problems, about a week later i noticed water was leaking when the engine was running out of the gap between the head and the block, right where the engine number plate is.
Its become more apparent since that area and around it has turned a lighter colour where its cleaned the engine!
just wondered what could cause this and what would be the fix, all head studs were torqued correctly. only thing im thinkin is a warped head, i didnt get it skimmed this time as the head gasket change wasnt due to over heating, but it has been done about a year ago??
is it a simple head gasket change and head skim?

If it's slight 'n the heads not blowing you could try retorqueing it..
Slacken off and retighten one stud at a time. Couldn't be the thermostat housing could it?

nah its defo coming from the gap between the head and block as ive had the thermostat housing off to put a new thermostat in, that im about to do again, but thats a different story
wouldnt slackening off the nuts ruin the seal the gasket should have?

Not if you do it one at a time. Common practice with alloy cylinder heads to release any expansion stresses - get the engine warm then slacken off, 1/2 to 1 turn should suffice, and retighten each nut in sequence.
