£185 to service a mini ???

it wasn't just a service, they had to fit new rear subframe mounts and attempt front subframe mount fittings too :( this place is expensive...my dad only told me today instead of before I bloomin' went to them! :dontgetit:

I'll give you a break down of the bill...

rear subframe mounts x2 £10.98
Wiper blade (i see no difference...lies i suspect!) £3.54
Oil filter £2.00
Change of oil £23.00
Brake cleaner £3.00
Carry out "full" service, fit new rear subframe mounts £115

then blooming VAT on top

I dispute the "full" service completely :o

Hundred and eighty wha???

I'll do it for you for free! Thats a serious offer! (Except for alternator...) :(

that's all good and well Oli, but you live across the other side of the damn country!! :(

Lol do it yourself, you can do it, no probs honest!!!, £50 for parts needed. Jeez I'd do it for you for free!

I wish I could do it myself :) where abouts are you retro?! :(

lol thanks for the offer Dog, but once again you live over the other side of the country to me!! slight prob :(

I remember the text on the way back from SMD :( Poor ewe :dontgetit:

Glad to hear that he's running ok now though!! :(

Oh - and as for the service... you can do it yourself :( :( I did Charlie's :) Plus you get to learn loads about your own car if you do! :o

£23 for oil is my first stop...even halfrauds is £14.99 for a 5 litre thing of any grade - more than enough for 1 oil change.

Break cleaner?

No mention of timing, air filter, sparks and gaps, tappets, grease points, break adjustment...to mention a few.

there weren't any sheep near me when I broke down Bean :( :o

I plan on learning how to do stuff myself or have someone friendly and who knows their way round a mini do it and show me stuffs! It's just I had only had Freddie for under a week and needed him looked at and sorted before I went up to London, then did the trips to SMD and back to London and back down south again :( oh and my exhaust has fallen off :( funsies

you know what, from the bill break down, it seems like they didn't bother with my exhaust :( and also from the rattling sounds my exhaust still makes it'd seem that way!! :) thank god Neil managed to fix it back on, my bill would be even higher otherwise :dontgetit:

aww bless ya :(

his main problem at the moment is that his front subframe mounts can't be put on properly and his fog lights have no live or something :( everything else is supposedly dealt with now :( don't believe that really...changing oil, I can do with my dad, but he's in frickin' hk for another week, so yeah :(

£23 for oil is my first stop...even halfrauds is £14.99 for a 5 litre thing of any grade - more than enough for 1 oil change.

yeah, I know to the oil change. I had a fit when I saw it...queue muchos swearing to my mum over it :( spoke to my dad about it, he said they are expensive normally as they're a small garage :) still... :dontgetit:

the full service is supposed to go over all the other things you mentioned, the guy said he'd tuned my engine to stop it idling so high, checked my spark plugs apparently, said my breaks had been seizing a bit so that's what the brake cleaner's for apparently

my air filter's filthy from what Del says...

not to mention the fact that they didn't check my fan belt or my battery connections :o suffice to say, I will not be taking Freddie back to them!

Well Hanna, if you pair fancy a weekend in Hereford again, drop your Mini off with me, and I'll work my way round him for you, sort anything that needs sorting :)

Only thing I won't be able to do, is tune him :(

You can do some rudementry tuning tho cant you dog? Idle, mixture, air filter and tappets? Just to get a better running car per se.

I can do tappets etc, I just can't "static" tune him, I can get the colortune out and fettle with the mixture slightly, but thats about all I can do :(

Offer is there Hanna, anytime you want it :)

Damn Freddie :withstupid: wouldn't start after mitp... so we had to make a trip to minispares, juice his battery up and managed to drive about 10 miles with the red 'not charging' light on, in the dark with no lights  minimal indicator usage, a fair few judders here and there...and a nice bit of random backfiring :dozing:

But >_< Freddie now has a shiny, shiny new alternator :o silly minispares man sold me the 70amp spi one... :ermm: cost me about £60 >_< didn't bother to check til I got home... oh well, he just charges up quicker

anywho, new alternator's been fitted by a muddy butted Neil  though Neil did almost burn out my windscreen wiper motor :P idiot!! he must have hit the wiper stalk by accident when he turned on the engine to check the alternator worked, with my bonnet up...next thing he knows there's a burning smell (which is vaguely normal in Freddie at the moment :dozing: he has an odd hot rubbery vague burning smell that comes from the engine bay when he's running or has been running...we have no idea what it is!!) then he noticed lots of smoke before he realised what was happening!

He now starts on first try without the choke out :P he feels so much more powerful now too!! YAY!

Freddie also has a new interior light bulb so we have light!! yay!! It's a complete and utter novelty I tells ya :P kept surprising me last night that I could see when I'd opened the door! hehe

we're going to have a look to see why he sits so low at the front later (well I say we...the man is :ermm: and I'll stand there looking pretty stupid) and then replacing an indicator lens as somebody broke one of mine  as well as giving Freddie a shiny new knob!
