Don't think we'll be coming to the christmas run Dom...It's a bit far really from Paddington  not far as in actual miles, more the time it'd bloody take!! Getting across from west london and then out to kent  funsies!

Well done han, said to you on msn earlier but you didnt listen :P

I saw it and I replied but you'd disappeared before I got back from my shower!! :(

I was worried he wouldn't pass (he failed first time) but Neil and Del used the persuasion of a hammer :-

ARGH! Freddie is being such a pain in the rear end right now :withstupid:

Had a trip to minispares last week to buy him some new shiny bits :P Got him:

A conversion halogen light set
New Grille surrounds (as they'd both rusted right through the screw holes and one had come off a few months ago!)
Battery cut off switch (as I can't drive him as much as I should  )
New earth strap

Wanted to buy him a new air filter system as the current one is really filthy and a new exhaust system as the current one is plain poo! But they didn't have the air filter system and I didn't have zee monies just yet for the exhaust... :( boo

Anywho, last week Neil and I went out to see what we could do (I mainly stood there handing tools to Neil and freezing my butt off rather than anything really helpful :ermm: )
The lights were a nightmare to do and just didn't seem to want to fit into the holes, so Freddie had to be left for a night with no eyes  but we got them in in the end the next day...only they probably aren't at the right angle :dozing: Hopefully Neil's managed to sort that out today. I'll be able to see where I'm going at night now! :P

T'was hard finding a place for the earth strap to go as most of the bolts in Freddie's engine bay are so damn rusty!! But that's on, doesn't seem to have helped with charging the battery though...so we think the battery is just buggered >_< so I'll be getting me a new one of those at the end of the week. The battery connectors are wrong for the cut off switch so that couldn't go on!! :ermm:

Even the grille surrounds weren't easy to get on!! They just didn't want to slot in to place and then the screws wouldn't screw in for me :( Neil had to come and persuade them in!

More problems though...we charged up the battery a bit and jumped it last night as Neil was taking Freddie with him home. He's usually fine after that and will run and start up again if you stop for a few hours, but after about 20 metres he cut out, Neil managed to get him started again and going. But he cut out several times on Neil's drive home.

Also the lights like to put themselves on high beam every now and then when you don't touch the light stalk at all :ermm: not good...

Oh yeah, his idling revs are anywhere between 400-1600 :dozing: he needs a lot of encouragement, having to run him with the choke partially out quite a lot of the time too :withstupid:

YAY! No rear brakes

Freddie decided to dump his brake fluid all over neil's road the other day :-

Ordered the new parts but minispares was out of brake fluid  hopefully the parts will arrive by the weekend so we can fix Freddie on saturday. Stupid incontinent Freddie... :)

You know you can buy most brake parts at your local motor factors in case you're stuck 'n can't wait for a delivery?

Waiting for the delivery is no problem for me Ethel as I'm in halls and have handy porter like people to deal with all my post!

Plus, I don't know how to fit new brakes and Neil's been busy. So no real rush on things to be honest >_< it's just a pain in the buttocks that Freddie decided to soil himself when we were going to drive back to mine, had to use public transport instead ;D

Oh yeah, quick thing. Freddie's got a power drain somewhere  Any tips on finding out what could be causing it?

>_<

I really should update this thread more

Look how dirty he is!! Got to give him a good old wash and tidy up before Riv Run and most definitely before l2b! (the roof rack is only on there because Neil couldn't be bothered to carry it round to his garage!!)

Posted Image

Freddie's brakes are now sorted :D Thanks to Terry and Neil :D Bless them, they had to work in the wind and the rain and the cold, brakes just need bedding in before Riv Run!!

Posted Image

When they guys were fitting the new brakes on to Freddie they noticed that the rear subframe was rustier than we'd originally thought and they also found a huge crack in it :ermm: Always good hey!

Anywho, it was booked in to the garage of Terry's for a spot of grinding back the rust and welding a plate over it as a temp measure until it got worse. :ermm: but once Terry took an angle grinder to it, he noticed it was even rustier than we'd thought and that it was probably about half filler :dozing:

A quick phone call to Mini Kel though and a replacement rear subframe was found :!:

So, went round to Kel's workshop on Sunday (had to wait god knows how long for Kel seeing as he was a bit worse for wear that morning :P ), picked up the subframe and had a little visit to Minispares too to get all the mounts and such so we could fit the subframe on ^_^ I also bought Freddie a stage 1 kit, which I've been meaning to get round to getting for a while. Thought now was the time as my old exhaust is still leaking a bit and it keeps rubbing on the rear subframe. Neil's going to fit the subframe and stage 1 kit before Riv Run :D

Oh yeah, turns out Freddie was a bit loose :mrcool: well in the battery terminals anyway  which is probably why the battery kept going flat even though it was brand new!! Neil decided to treat Freddie to a 306 battery anyway, it's huge! Barely fits in the battery bay! Freddie seems to like it a lot though, he's running a lot better now that he has a bigger battery and tightened battery terminals :)

He is running way too rich though, idles around 1400rpm at the mo :D guzzling petrol!! Need to turn that down again and then he should be running nicely

Getting a bit excited about him working properly again and being on the road properly again  :)

My student loan comes in at the end of this week :w00t: it's the biggest chunk I get, yet my uni fees are at their lowest this term :dozing: bit silly, but hey! It means spare cash  :w00t: money to spend on Freddie ^_^

Oops, forgot to say that I got his stage 1 kit with a centre exit 1"3/4 rc40 with the rolled edge  For some reason MiniSpares only do centre exits with the stage 1 kit in a large bore  but the guy who served me was nice enough to give me the 1"3/4 instead

Not sure if the centre exit's going to suit Freddie right now, but I have plans for a complete refurb and makeover of Freddie within the next few years and the centre exit will go with that! :w00t:

Neil told me last night that he's going to take Freddie to DC motors (he's behind minispares in potters bar and comes highly recommended from various mini people >_< ) ;) on Tuesday to have a good old tune up after his stage 1 has been put on! He should be running absolutely luverrrrrrrly after that!

:ermm: I can't wait for next week now! :P

Really want to give him a good clean and a polish now so that he'll look as good as he'll run :errr:

Getting so excited now
