The mini looks great Oli, The rallying is good aswell, i havnt bee to see the manx since 1999 as we didnt have any children then.
Did you have any problems with the mini at all whilst you were away?

Whats next on the mini?

Hi Mark thanks for that, i like the manx rally a lot (when its dry!) although i go to watch the historics more than anything was a good laugh as well because it was one lads stag do, so lots of drinking ensued! My phone wont work over there either so it was great just to switch off an forget about work ect for a few days, especially being as the weather was so good.

Had one problem with mini though, coming back from watching a stage and suddenly the engine seemed to misfire, ie it coughed through the air filter and lost power so i backed off and was ok for a bit and then it did it again only worse and it didnt seem to matter how hard i was reving it either, anyway limped back to campsite, went to the pub, and next morning started to investigate, pulled the top cover off the bulkhead and found the problem nearly straight away, on both the wires to the cam position sensor the insulation had pulled back 1/2 inch and the bare wires could touch together, so quick application of tape and a tie wrap and it was fine after that, including an hour and a bit journey both ways on the m way to liverpool.

Not been able to do much with car as im off work for 10 weeks at the moment after a minor hernia op, ok to have time off but cant really go messing about with car either which is frustrating. But next things are rear wheel arches, and might put some inners in as well, fit my larger clutch slave cylinder to the engine, connect the oil pressure gauge and maybe some track days looks like it might be next year before that though as summers nearly gone.Need to have things set up as well and maybe a power commander as i think it may be overfueling, the lads who were following me at dusk on the bikes said there was 6 to 14 inch of flames coming from the exhaust on the overrun!

Just found a quick vid that someone sent me

Hi There

Its probably not over fuelling as its fuel injection, also bike valves overlap ie exhaust is still closing as the inlet is starting to open. so they appear to run rich. Did it not register off the scale on the emisions test at the MOT ? Best not answer that !! Thats why bike MOT's dont have emmision tests. My Ducati 999 with termigoni exhaust and power comander and rolling road tuned shoots flames on the over run. the fuel curve is near perfect.

My mini also shoots flames on the gear changes when hot and pops and bangs on the over run....enjoy.

cheers

Hi there thanks for that maybe not as bad as i thought then, i know the injection will keep things in check but i suppose was just wondering because as im told the bike injection system does not use an oxygen sensor in the exhaust like a car does to allow the ecu to control emissions, instead it uses the temp, air pressure, manifold pressure and crank and cam position sensors and relies on a preset map in the ecu which is different for the outer and inner pair of cylinders so was just wondering if removing the bike air box, using a different exhaust and eliminating ram air would affect it slightly, it didnt register off the scale at MOT because it didnt have an emissions test, this car is registered as a 64 and its visible smoke only for anything pre 72.However thats not strictly correct either because the emissions are supposed to be tested by the age of the engine not the car, then again if its classed as a bike engine like you say it shouldnt have a test-i have a headache now!.

Oli, I'm sure its fine, but if you wanted to check and you can hook it upto a gas analyser, the co2 should be around 5-6% a modern car is probably 0.5% and the Hydrocarbons (un burnt fuel) will be of the scale and that really is the norm- my mate works for Suzuki.

Markrally.

Inside my air box is two outer rubber ram pipes and the two middle ones have been butchered from the ram air on the bike. would you change this so i have Four all the same?

I used the 2 original short ones and then bought 2 new ones identical to them.
Im also running a power commander which was originally setup at holeshot racing.

Cheers
