Well an update for you all....

IT PASSED!!!

Hurrar >_<

So just the road tax to get tomorrow, a bit more preperation and cleaning and its all go for Germany!

Got a little hot on the way home though but it was a warm day and its just got water in not coolant (if that makes much difference??)

The Yokos look yummy. :withstupid:

Pics to follow.

Oh and the other week I parked my polo up near the local shops, nipped out to get some cash. As i walked back to my car I noticed a pizza delivery chap pusting his door back closed to get it passed the front of my car?!?!

Luc was in the car and told me he'd just hit the front, looked at it and sure enough, there was a scratch. So iff I calmly stormed into the pizza place and they came out, had a look and agreed to pay or go through insurance if I got a quote. So when i went to pick the mini up I got a quote from the spray shop next door.

Took the quote to them today and im £131 richer! That will do nicely for the fuel to Germany! :dontgetit:

Mmm, I was particularly impressed by the 'careful driving on short tow rope' perfectly illustrated by taking pictures while you're at it >_<

Good luck on your sortie chaps, hope you have a wizard time and all make it safely back to Blighty - Tally Ho.

The Yokos Charlie, make sure your suspension angles aren't extremely out. I ran 5-6* of -ve camber and went through a A032R in a month.

Ermmm, how do I do that then, Mr Jammy?

One of the rear wheels looks like its got +ve camber (top further out that bottom, yes?) but im not sure if it is.....

That is something im worried about though as they are rather pricey, almost to the point where I'll go round roundabouts slowly as not to wear them...defeats the point then though, he he

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've just bought all the guages to check camber/castor and tracking, I'll be bringing them with me to the ring if I can get them in the car!

Well the problem would be finding a perfectly flat area to set up the suspension, otherwise any changes I/we make will or could make things worse.

Well a bit has happend since I last posted so I thought an update was in order....

Clutch Oil Seal

Posted Image

The first bit of work started the day after Castle Combe. I had managed to pursuade a team of the miniforums most highly skilled members to assist me with changing the clutch oil seal (a problem that had become evident at BH2N)

Posted Image

Its amazing how much easier stuff like this is when you have knowlagable people helping you, especially when they have the right tools.

The leak:

Proper tool for refitting the clutch oil seal!...fancy:
Posted Image

So after a bit of removing, a trip to halfrauds and the borrowing of a for sale sign the job was done!

Thanks to my team of helpers, the fixers and the lovely photographer!

Oil Change

Well surprisingly in all the years of owning my mini Ive never changed the oil, well I felt it was time I changed that..

I started with all my usual enthusiasm but it was the tools that let me down...honest!

Perhaps a lesson that can be learnt by all! The fancey drain catcher/oil containers sold by halfrauds don't fit under the sump of a mini.

So I then decided to use another container I had at hand.....clever me your thinking..oh yes....until I realised as it was very quickly filling up that it wasn't quite big enough for all that lovely black oil.....hence

Posted Image

Well its a good job we recycle paper in the flat bin shed, after a quick sprint to get loads of paper the mess was cleaned up.

I had a look at the sump plug to find a very pretty christmas tree of iron filings and unfortunately some rather larger bits of metal!

Posted Image

The larger bits of metal just turned out to be from the outer most thread of the sump so panic over!

So then I topped up the oil with the halfrauds classic stuff and job done!!! :)

Future work

Well this weekend I traveled to Mr Jonsey's house to collect these bad boys!:

Posted Image

Already sat in them and made noises and they are well comfy!!

So will fit them in the mini sometime in the future when ive got a way to fit them!

Well it was finally time, time to undress the Beast.

It was the day of De-Stickering!

The starting point:

Only took me 4-5 hours!

Still got to use acetone to get rip of the sticky white stuff (now don't be rude!)

Unfortunately I took 3 tiny bits of laquer off but that can be fixed.

Oh yes and it needs a good old scrub....when I get round to it :)

Here endeth the post...
