Hi there,

My mini is a bit ill at the moment. When she idle she is ok, but as soon as I try and drive with her, she threatens to cut out, or 'stutters' so much that she threatens to cut out, and at one occasion she did just die on me.

I've serviced the carburetor, and everything there is squeeky clean, cleaned the airfilter, checked that the petrol pumps okey, cleaned the distributor cap ...

I desperately need her driving :xxx:

Could anyone help me please?

Does using the choke make any difference?

Did you put some oil back in the carb dashpot after the service?

Just in case, you might have mis understood

On top of the carb under the black screw in cover you need to put in some oil, do a search or check haynes on what spec oil.

I didnt mean oil as in general lubrication of mechanism's

You fill the dashpot up to the 'shoulder' of the spout... use the same oil as you used in your engine.

last week she had the same problems, and after checking all of the other stuff (checking distributor, etc as described in the manual) I ordered the service kit, and then serviced the carb yesterday, as well as check that the fuel pumps through okey, and cleaned the airfilter..
but she is only marginally better than before I serviced it :xxx:

done the points, condensor and rotor arm in the dizzy and the dizzy cap? i had a thread up not long ago with a title almost identical to yours, with same symptoms and changed points, condensor, rotor arm and dizzy cap and after a bit of fiddling with the points gapping i got it running pretty sweet

cheap stuff as well, doubt its the carb causing your problems

Thanks for that, when I serviced the carburetor I cleaned within an inch of being new... Being a girl, wanting to fix her car, my carburetor looks new :xxx:, I;m gonna try the above, replace the points .. and if I get pissed off enough mbe replace the whole distributor cap *sigh*

Pity I love the Beastie so much ... or I would have had one amazing bbq this weekend *G*
