please help! i recently changed the engine in my mini to a 1293 engine before i changed it everything worked fine. but just lately ive bin having problems with my battery. i tryed to start the car one day and the battery was flat and wldnt turn over the car. so i charged the battery and bought a Dis-Car-Nect which cuts the battery to the car apart from a fuse to feed the radio ect. the worst thing is that my alternator light has decided to stay on now. ive replaced the alternator with a brand new 55 amp one wich is 10 amp beter than the old one but still no luck. the fan belt is tight and doesnt slip but when i drive the car, the longer i drive it for the worse it gets because if you start the car in the morning and drive it for abit the orange light goes off after around 1500-2000 rpm but after a while of driving it it doesnt go off till around 3000-3500 rpm.. i dont know whats happening but i cant drive my mini and its annoying because ive just finished it.. please help!

Are you certain that its the orange light thats staying on? Assuming your wiring is correct that light is your oil pressure warning light.... :xxx:

I don't know about the "new" cars. However, traditionally, the red light has been for the alternator/charging system (American, Japanese, German, British... etc.) On all the British cars I've seen or owned, orange warning lights have been for a low oil pressure warning and/or plugged filter bypass switch.

yeah.... get some more oil in it first!!!!!!!!

When you start up, the oil is thick and produces more back pressure when being moved around the block as the oil gets up to temperature and moves around more freely, the sensor will detect less pressure. pressure increases with Revs.

Mini's do burn oil but not to an excess whereby the light is on most of the time (usually flickers on on a roundabout unless you have a central oil pick up.

oh rite my dad told me it was the battery one... well if it is oil pressure thats a good thing but bad because i dont know whats causing it to stay on.. saying that would it make any difference if i put more oil in as i know its sat at minimum...?
