Hi,
I've got an hif44 carb but noticed that the throttle/choke setup is different way around to all the ones I've seen around.
Didn't think it would be a prolem but the regular throttle bracket doesn't really line up.

Before I get one custom made, does anyone know of a bracket I can buy?
Also has anyone seen an hif44/hif6 like this before?

thanks.

Others may confirm better, but that looks like one carb from a pair of twin HIF4s

no, the bracket on the heatshield for the throttle cable is at the wrong angle. if you bend it, mabey it'll work. Thats what i'm going to have to try to do with my twin hif setup. Otherwise i'm sure you can get the other type of throttle cable guide thingy off a carb from the breakers.

There are lots of differing choke & throttle linkages depending on what the carb was originally fitted to.

You may have to swap bits or modify them to fit it.

That's certainly a Hif carb (no separate float chamber) measure the diameter of the throat 38mm = Hif 38, Hif44 = 44mm...

think mines backwards aswell as it seemd the opposite way to the diagram in the SU refurb instructions.

Wouldn't worry about that either as piccies in a carb manual may well not be of a mini installation. One thing to watch is that the throttle pedal and choke cable allow the full movement of carb controls.

Thanks for quick responses.

Throat measures 44mm so at least it's an hif44, appears it must have been intended for twin setup then.
I'm going to get someone to cut up the heatshield bracket and weld it up to suit hopefully.

Hey Sam how did you get around routing your cables?

Is it possible to buy the right choke & throttle linkages to fit and just swap it over?
I looked all over the net but so far nothing.

You'd have to find an SU specialist suppliers I guess. But they are the sort of things people tend to have gathering dust in the bottom of tool boxes etc.

I'm sure you'll rig something up without too much trouble.
