Ive got a 1430 with race head, 286 cam, 1.5:1 ratio rockers, 11 arp studs, long stroke nitrocarbonised cross drilled crank, all of the threads have been tapped out a size on the block to hold the gearbox on, Xpin dif, straight cut transfer gears, 2 core rad, 13 row oil cooler, leccy fuel pump... and itll be quick enough! And a very strong engine too.

Its easy to get that kinda power from an A series, but its harder to make it drivable. But over an 8v vax engine..... id choose the A series every time, really raw delivery, nice sound, original, you get to keep the A series subframe rather than sometimes switching to a K series when it stops feeling like a mini and just looks like one.

Alex votes A series

it may be easy to get the same amount of power from the a series but it wont be as reliable as a standard engine producing the same power. plus you have 5 gears which is a bonus. with the allspeed frame it uses mini suspension so would still handle as well as an a series mini. vauxhall gets my vote.

You could always look at the 2 litre 8 valve engine as well for even more power

You'll know best about legislation in Portugal better than most of us but it sounds risky to break the law not only because you could be fined or worse but your insurance could well be invalid and if caught out you might struggle to get insurance in the future.
A 1275 A series engine could be made to make a mini move almost as well as a 1600 with a lot less work involved too.

here in portugal we have racers with mini´s 1275gt and the engine have 137hp...i want to know how can i putt so much hp in an engine?!

very true, but to do this you either have to know how to build and engine, know what the tricks are to do this kind of build OR pay someone to do it. don't get me wrong, i've got nothing against tuning the a series, its just that i can get more power for less money and effort and reliaibility to boot. and still have the handling of a mini becuase the allspeed frame uses mini suspension. its whatever you fancy!

consider all the things one must change to make the kind of HP from a A-engine, crank, rods pistons, rebore, bigger head/valves,rocker arms,etc.etc. Then remember you only have 3 main bearings. Go for the 8v/16v engine newer engine with 5 mains, save money and be able to enjoy your car for many more years. Just something to think about

CHANGE OF PLANS!

i called to DGV (direcção geral de aviação), they are the guys that can put the cars road legal with other engines and i think i had lucky hehe
well, i said to the guys that my engine is dead and i had to replace him but morris and austin doesn´t exist anymore and i wanted a new engine! now i have to put other engine ( any engine) and co to inspection to the guys see if the car is security to drive in the road!

wish me lucky!! maybe i gonna put an honda engine (b16) because of the price ( i have to pay money for each cc of the new engine, i think is 20cents! i pay 320€ for the homologation of the new engine)

wish me lucky!

o ye baby! im so happy! >_<
